So nice to receive your reply. I have a family/book/homeschool blog (am not able to insert URL, just google my name) and I posted a video of my kids reading the book aloud, as one of the teens prepare to do it in Speech class.

Dear Ana, I went to your blog and watched the video! I love it! What a joy to see the fun your kids are having with THE SEVEN SILLY EATERS and how it has stayed in their memories over the years! Please give each of them my best - what a beautiful family! |

Dear Mary Ann, I have known you since I was a child, growing up with your daughter Meg. And now that I have my own children, I have been reading your wonderful books. My daughter's absolute favorite is: You Read to Me, I'll Read to You. I think we have it memorized. My personal favorite is: A House is a House for Me. We just got Mary Had a Little Lamb from the library, and both my son (two and a half) and daughter (five and a half) loved it. I'd love to reconnect sometime with you and Meg. Sincerely, Sandy

Mary Ann - I am featuring poems and reviews of books of poetry for children on my book review blog in the month of April. I wanted to start the month with a piece of writing that would encourage parents to read poetry to and with their children often. Would you have any essays on this subject already published that I could quote from or would you be willing to write a paragraph or two on the importance of poetry in our lives and the world that I could post on my blog for the start of National Poetry Month? Thank you so much for your time and all that you have done and continue to do for children and poetry! - Tanya

Thanks, Tanya! I have sent you a short quote via e-mail that I hope will do. And I hope you will send me a link to your blog when it comes out. Best wishes. |

Dear Mary Ann, I have seven children in the same boy-girl-boy-etc order of the Seven Silly Eaters which is our favorite book, albeit the fact that my kids have never been picky eaters. Did you grow up in a big family? I did! Did you tell Marla how you wanted house to look like? It is my dream house.

Amazing! No one has ever written about that kind of coincidence before! No, I am one of only two, alas, with a younger brother. But my husband and I have four of our own - two boys and two girls. Of course, that's no match for you! And no, I gave Marla no instructions about any of her illustrations, but she did create a dream house, didn't she? Please give my best wishes to your seven non-silly eaters!! |

Hi Mary Ann, I am in love with your You Read to Me, I'll Read to You books. I would like to ask your permission to photocopy some of the stories in your wonderful books to help my third graders who struggle with reading. I would like to use them for a fluency practice with them. Thank you for writing these wonderful books and considering giving me permission to photocopy and use them in my classroom.

HI, Erin, Thanks for your message. My publisher, not I, controls permissions for the YOU READ TO ME series. I have forwarded your message to the permissions editor, requesting you be given limited permission to reproduce a few copies of some stories for classroom use. I will let you know when I hear from her - or perhaps you will be hearing from her directly yourself. Best Wishes! |
